Call to order
Chairman Rick Bailey called the meeting to order at 7:43 PM with the following Commission members in attendance: Nancy Slombo, Treasurer/Alternate; Theresa Gridley, Vice-Chair; and Bob Donovan, BOS ex Officio. Minutes were recorded by secretary, Lisa Babcock.

Newton Baseball Fundraising Committee – Proposal for New U10 Baseball Field
The following members of the Newton Baseball Fundraising Committee were in attendance to update the Commission regarding plans to add a U10 field at Greenie Park: Bob Morton, Rob Hayes and Christine Pasto.

Newton Baseball Fundraising Committee submitted a revised 3 year plan which included drawings of the proposed U10 field and estimated costs.  The Fundraising Committee estimates costs to be between $12,000 and $20,000.
Rick asked whether the new U10 field would be used at the same time as the existing field. Bob Morton confirmed that, yes, this would be the case.

The Fundraising Committee asked for the Commission’s approval to build the field contingent upon raising the necessary funds.

Rick moved to approve the new U10 field; Bob Donovan second.
Discussion: Nancy asked if the Commission would be funding any part of the construction of the new field. The Fundraising Committee said no.
Nancy said that there would not be enough money in the 2007 budget to maintain/mow the new field.  Bob Morton said the Fundraising Committee would budget $500 for field maintenance or a volunteer from Newton Baseball would mow it.  The Commission will not be responsible for field maintenance.  The motion passed unanimously.
