Minutes of October 12, 2005 Meeting
Town Beach Update
· Motion to spend up to $1,400 to have sand dumped at town beach (Rick). Seconded, all in favor – unanimous.
· Nancy to call and have sand dumped at beach.
Fall Family Fun Fair
· Was held October 2.
· Some bills still need to be paid:
o Bouncy Ride and Obstacle course $478.50
o Sam’s club for coffee, prizes, etc. $108.00 (approx).
o Cathy S. for items used for memorial walk $5.36 (request for payment submitted)
o Jane Bailey for pizza $45.36 (request for payment submitted)
· For next year – more advertising & get community groups involved (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc.)
Greenie Park Update
· Motion to spend up to $650 to purchase and install new sign for Greenie Park (Rick), second (Gary), all in favor – unanimous.
· Design of sign chosen – design #2 without lines & “Town of Newton” in font from design #3 – not in italics.
· Bill from Triangle for two chemical toilet units 8/25 – 10/24 & 9/27 – 10/26 totals $600.
· Chemical toilets will be removed in November after end of fall baseball.
· Nancy to call re quote for maintenance of sprinkler system including check heads & blow out system.
· Rick to clean out & add shelves in Greenie building for storage of Rec. Commission supplies.
Tennis Update
· Secretary to follow up on quotes for tennis court repair.
Budget
· 2006 Budget prepared.
· Increased budgeted for Greenie field maintenance including mowing, treatment for pests, aerating & liming of fields.
· Secretary to submit budget forms to selectmen’s office.
Other
· Motion to give $1,000 from summer programs to Babe Ruth baseball for supplies & equipment (Nancy), second (Rick), in favor – unanimous.
