Minutes of August 10, 2005 Meeting
Swim Program/Town Beach Update
·       The town beach was closed due to bacteria levels as of Monday, August 8th
·       Credit for the final week of Swim Session 2 will be given towards next year’s swim program to those requesting refunds.
·       Gary secured a 2-way Verizon phone for use by the life guards.
Tennis Program Update
·       10 Students participated in the Granite State Kids Junior Tennis Tournament
·       Lessons end 8/11/05
Town Parks and Recreation Areas Ordinance
Amend to read as follows:
·       Town Beach, item E. No drugs, no alcohol, no profanity
·       Town Beach, item J. Proper swim attire encouraged
·       Greenie Park, item C. No pets or livestock on ball fields and playground
·       Greenie Park, item D. No unauthorized motor vehicle use on ball fields, grandstand area and open areas of park
·       Greenie Park, item E. No drugs, alcohol or profanity
·       Greenie Park, item K. All waste and trash: carry-in, carry-out
·       Town Properties, include items A through E from draft “A”.
·       Town Properties, item F. All waste and trash to be removed by owners
·       Town Properties, item G. Alcoholic beverages will be permitted only after securing a permit from the Board of Selectmen. This fee will be $25.00. This item was stricken.
·       Effective Date – to be changed by Board of Selectmen
·       Motion to pass as amended and forward to the Board of Selectmen (Deb).  Second (Nancy).  In favor – unanimous.
Greenie Park Update
·       Trash – Rick and volunteers cleaned park & emptied barrels.
Road Agent will empty trash barrels on Mondays per Board of Selectmen 8/1/05 meeting.
·       Jessica Surret will pick up trash around park 1 hour per week.
·       Gary met with fire chief to discuss placement of “No Parking/Fire Lane” signs – one on end of fence and one on post at base of hill. Gary looking into getting signs; cost approx. $15 each.
·       Janice to contact Dan Foley and Triangle Portables to find out how many and what types of porta-potties are located at Greenie Park and to inquire re: handicap unit.
Family Fall Fun Fest
·       To be held Sunday, September 25, 2005; rain date Sunday, October 2, 2005
·       Rick to contact Cathleen Surette to discuss coordination of her Memorial Walk event scheduled for October 2.
·       Rick: ask Boy Scouts to man moon jumper and help with games.
·       Nancy: moon jumper, pony rides, cost for popcorn machine
·       Deb: contact New England Reptile, DJ (CJ Malm at $75)
·       Gary: contact police department re: Kid Care and radar guns for pitching contest; ask Baseball to run concession stand.
Budget
·       Motion to reimburse Jon Holden $40 for Red Cross swim cards (Deb). In favor – unanimous.
Web Site
·       Gary looking into getting a phone extension for the Recreation Commission
·       Bring items for web site to next meeting.
Other Business
·       Brox Industries repaving August – early September
Gary to inquire about paving entrance to Geenie Park
