MEETING MINUTES


  • Call to Order:  10:10am
  • In Attendance:  Marilyn Landry: Chairperson, Kathy Meserve: Treasurer, Diane Morin: Secretary, Terry Caswell: Director, Sally Woodman: Alternate, Anne Banks, Lynne Camp guests
  • Secretary’s Report:  Kathy motioned to accept the minutes as written for the February 14, 2013 meeting.  Sally seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
  • Director’s Report:  Kathy motioned to accept the Director’s Report as written for the month of February.  Sally seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
  • Treasurer’s Report:  Marilyn motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report as written for the month of March.  Sally seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
  • Communication and Correspondence:

  • Building Maintenance Review:  Terry reported that only 1 bid came in for repairing the fire escape stairs.  The Board of Selectmen will review the bid at their next meeting.  Marilyn will attend the meeting to inquire about the concern the Trustees have with not having a structural engineer appraise the safety of the fire escape stairs.
  • Circulation Policy Review and Signage:  Terry reviewed the changes to policy.  Marilyn motioned to approve the changes.  Kathy seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The Trustee’s then signed the policy.
  • New Business:
  • Review Town Voting Results:  The warrant article submitted to the voters that would make the Director a full time town employee failed.  The Trustees are very disappointed with the way the voting went but wish to thank the townspeople who supported warrant article.
  • NHLTA: Kathy motioned to pay $65 per person for alternates Anne Banks, Sally Woodman, and Lynne Camp to attend the annual NHLTA conference held on May 20, 2013.  Marilyn seconded and the motion passed unanimously.  The Trustees then discussed which workshops each attendee would attend so that most of the workshops could be covered.
  • Library Telescope Program:  Terry explained the “Telescope Library Program”.  The program donates the telescopes to the library and the library will then take ownership.  Patrons will be able to sign out the telescope for their use.  Currently there are no donated telescopes available.  The Gale Library is on the waiting list.
  • Cell Phone Restriction Policy Review:  Terry reviewed the policy and will update the format to be in line with other policies.   
  • Movie Licensing USA:  There are now 110 NH libraries participating in the program.  The more libraries that participate the better the discount.  The Gale library received $29 as a reimbursement because the number of libraries increased.
  • Municibid:  Terry explained that this is a web site for municipalities to auction off town owned property.  There is no signup fee.  The bidder pays the fees on the purchased item/s.
  • Acceptance of Donations-Patrons:  Kathy motion to accept $2.25 and Marilyn seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.
  • Friend’s News:  They will be holding a yard sale on April 27 at Estabrooks Garage.  The bake sale held during Town elections grossed $485.  Leftover food will be frozen and used for Library week, April 14-20.  Terry is working on activities for Library week.
  • Monthly Invoice Review and Initialing:  The Trustee performed monthly review of invoices and initialed.

  • Date of Next Meeting:  April 10, 2013.  Marilyn will not be attending the meeting.  Sally will act as Chair.
