              GALE LIBRARY MEETING MINUTES

DATE:                   August 8, 2012
PLACE:                  Gale Library
TIME:                   9:00a.m.
CALL TO ORDER:  9:00a.m.
ROLL CALL:      Marilyn Landry, Chair; Carol Szot, Secretary; Terry Caswell, Director; Sally Woodman, Alternate Treasurer and Secretary Carol Szot left the meeting at 10:00a.m.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Marilyn motioned to accept the July 18, 2012 minutes as read. Carol seconded and the motion carried unanimously.  
DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Marilyn motioned to accept the Director’s minutes as read. Sally seconded and they passed unanimously.
TREASURER’S REPORT: One correction was made. The newspaper to be paid was the Union Leader not the Eagle Tribune. Marilyn motioned to accept the Treasurer’s report as amended. Sally seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
COMMUNICATION and CORRESPONDANCE:
  • Marilyn motioned to pay the current Baker and Taylor book bill from the library’s fine money. Sally seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
  • Both the Volunteer Policy and the Personnel Policies were signed.
  • Terry reviewed potential building maintenance needs with Marilyn and Sally.
NEW BUSINESS:
  • Currently, we are paying $875, starting January 2013 the new fee will be $1,000. Marilyn motioned to pay the 2013 Downloadable fee. Sally seconded and it passed unanimously.
  • Terry has signed the Gale Library up for the upcoming New Hampshire Big Read. Our library’s focus will be on Edgar Allan Poe. Various programs are being planned for the upcoming NH Big Read program starting in October 2012.
  • An NHLTA announcement for a Trustee workshop was received.  Marilyn will check to see if it would be applicable for Terry to attend. She will also check with Kathy to see if she is available.
  • Marilyn motioned to accept the $50.60 patron donation. Sally seconded it and it passed unanimously.
Friends of the Gale Library News:
  • The Friends held their monthly meeting on July10 at 1:00p.m.
  • At the Friends Summer Reading Ice Cream party it was announced that Margaret Nally won the quilt raffle.
  • A proportional check from the Lia Sophia jewelry fundraiser will be given to the Friends.
  • Discounted passes have been purchased for The Children’s Museum of NH. And the discounted passes for the York Wild Kingdom are still on sale.
  • The Friends have asked the Library for a future wish list to be given as monies allow.
  • Monthly invoice review and initialing was completed.
ADJOURNMENT: 10:50p.m.
