Caswell, library director; Sally Woodman, secretary; Irene
Nally, Friend of the Library; Kathy Meserve, President of the
Friends of the Library
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Read and accepted.
LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Read and accepted.
TREASURER’S REPORT: March’s report, as well as, the first quarters report
were read and accepted. The group then
revised the budget in order to meet the
figures from 2007. This was necessary since
the proposed figures of the 2008 budget were
not voted in. A vote was taken on the adjusted
figures and passed unanimously.
COMMUNICATION and CORRESPONDANCE:
- A pamphlet was received from the New Hampshire Library Trustees Association announcing the annual meeting and conference to be held in North Conway on May 14, 2008.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
- Terry had acquired a quote of $1,198.09 for the renovation of the E-room. This was tabled.
- Carpet cleaning was also tabled.
- More damage, to the outside of the library, has occurred. To
date the vinyl siding has burn marks in a number of places,
as well as punctures, and the siding has been pulled away
from the building exposing the old wood beneath. Ice cream
was placed into the book drop and on rugs in the entry way.
Very recently, a sewer pipe elbow was broken. Litter in the
parking lot has increased greatly. The cost of this vandalism is
mounting. We hope to publish a letter alerting the citizens of
Newton to this destruction and asking for their vigilance. If
anyone notices groups gathering in the parking lot, especially
after library hours, we would ask that they contact the police.
Terry has been in contact with both the fire chief and the
the police chief. They have both seen the damages.
- Terry will look into to repair costs for the damages and get
back to the board with estimates.
- It was suggested that we contact the J.M. Protection
Company to obtain information on a surveillance system for
the library’s exterior.
NEW BUSINESS:
- As a result of the budget revision, the board has decided to
raise the price for the use of the copier and fax machine.
The price for the color printing will be $.25, the black and white,
$.15 and the fax will be $2.00. This was voted on and
approved unanimously. It takes effect immediately.
- The subject of obtaining wireless computer access had to be tabled.
- We welcomed our new Gale Library alternate, Kathy Meserve.
ADJOURNMENT: 12:07 A.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Sally Woodman
Trustee secretary
