SECRETARY’S REPORT: Read and accepted.
LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Read and accepted.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Read and accepted.
COMMUNICATIOS and CORRESPONDANCE:
-A donation for the library was received.
-A New Hampshire Library Trustee’s Association brochure, listing fall workshops, was received.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
- Rick Samuels, a computer technician, attended our meeting to give us an update
on our computers and their usage. He was willing to answer any questions we had. Rick discussed wireless access and gave a verbal estimate of the cost to install it along with needed safeguards. He said he would get an estimate on a new computer to replace one that will be dedicated to library business.
- The issue concerning a library newsletter was postponed due to the need for more information.
-The board has decided to begin our policy review plan with the personnel policy.
-The acquisition of a door for the library director space was postponed. More information was needed to make a decision.
-An official bid of $450 to paint the first floor hallway and the stairs leading to the second floor was motioned and passed unanimously. The colors chosen were shades of yellow and blue.
-Terry is researching the cost to redo the five counters in the library.
-The Don Morse Flooring bid to sand and apply polyurethane the first floor hallway and the stairs leading to the second floor was also motioned and accepted. The bid quote was $1,119, including a 10% discount for a non-profit organization.
-A bid of $675 for wiring the new shed was made. No action was taken since it is the only bid to date.
-The subject on replacement pull down stairs for access to the attic was discussed.
The discussion will continue during our October meeting.
-New lighting is needed for the second floor and one section in the downstairs. No
Action was taken as Terry Caswell is waiting for a rebate quote from UNITIL. The new units will be more efficient allowing us to receive the rebate.
-A motion was made and accepted to purchase several new books for the Christmas season.
-The question of acquiring ‘remote access’ was postponed while more information is gathered.
-Marilyn Landry informed the board that the computer tables cannot be fitted with rollers as the legs are too narrow to accommodate rollers with brakes.
-Lauri Gaudet has been hired as the Library Assistant.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Stanley Steamer bid of $357 was motioned and voted in unanimously. This
bid covers all the carpets in the library.
The Friends of the Library were granted permission to hold an October book
Sale in the library’s parking lot.
