GALE LIBRARY
                        Board of Trustee Meeting Minutes

DATE:                   May 18, 2006
PLACE:                  Gale Library
CALL TO ORDER:  9:07a.m.
ROLL CALL:              Marilyn Landry, chair; Carol Szot, treasurer;   Sally Woodman, secretary; Terry Caswell, library director

SECRETARY'S REPORT:  Read and accepted.

SPECIAL MEETING:   This special meeting was held in order to bring everyone up to date on the condition of the library following the abnormally high rainfall of the past few days.
Terry informed us of all that had been done already. She had spent a great deal of time coordinating actions to salvage materials and to dispose of materials too badly damaged.
Carol suggested we discuss the short term goals first, and then the long term goals.
The short term goals are to clean up and dry the cellar out. Terry has called Frank Gibbs, Road Commissioner, to facilitate the removal of unsalvageable materials from the cellar. He is due to come around 11:00a.m. today.
The long term goals were then discussed. The basic long term goal is to solve the storage of space for materials and equipment. The library already has much too little space for it needs. The attic cannot be an alternative due to hazardous accessibility and the cellar would need modification to make it useful.
Suggestions were made to: 1. procure an outside storage shed to house material; 2. to get waterproof containers, and 3. to ask the community to donate wooden palettes and/or cinder blocks to keep materials and equipment off the floor of the cellar.
It was also noted that the cellar door to the outside is in poor condition and needs replacement for security reasons as well.

ADJOURNMENT:  10:50a.m.
