Bill Landry called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM.

Secretary’s Report – Mary Riordan
Mary Marshall made a motion to accept the minutes of April 12, 2010. John Meserve seconded the motion.  The motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Treasurer’s Report – Bill Landry

Checking account income was from dues and the sale of 250th Anniversary books by the Library.

Checking account expenses were the Electric bill and paint for the Schoolhouse lights.

Money Market income was from interest and a $500 donation from S & R Construction.  Money Market expenses were for lumber and paint for the trim on the Schoolhouse and the delivery of the display cases from Peabody Museum.  The cost of moving was more than we originally estimated because the Museum donated an additional smaller display case that was included in the move.
Cheryl Saunders made a motion to approve the additional moving expense. Kathy Meserve seconded the motion.  The motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Marilyn Landry made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report.  Pat Wonson seconded the motion.  The motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Old Business:
Schoolhouse Repairs
Electrical – Ron Saunders reported the electrical service work is complete.  He still has one outlet to install over the new window.  Bill can call for the inspection at anytime.

Scraping / Painting Work Party – The scraping work party took place on Saturday April 17th at 10:00 AM.  The scraping has been completed.
Wall Repair – Bill Landry, in speaking to Ray Thayer, got the name of John Neveux of Renaissance Plastering in Newton who offered to repair the walls for us.  Bill showed John the Schoolhouse walls that needed repair.

Painting – Bill asked for volunteers to prime the windows.  The painting work party will be on Sunday May 16th at 10:00 AM.  The primer and paint is in the Schoolhouse.  Volunteers should bring rags and water with them.

Display Cases (Peabody Museum & Gale Library) – Bill Landry reported the display case from the Peabody Museum and an additional smaller display case were moved to the Primary Schoolhouse.  We also received two four foot high display cases from the Gale Library that are in the Barn at the Marshall House.  Ron Saunders believes they are called lawyers bookcases.  Ron suggested sending a thank you letter to the Library.  Bill said Bresnahan Movers did a very good job moving the cases.

Scanning Project – Since Karen O'Malley was not at the meeting this item was tabled until the next meeting.

Peabody Museum Tour and Meeting – Bill Landry reported that due to a change in schedule for the Museum renovations, we would not be able to get a tour and hold our meeting there until September or October.

Granite State Poker – Bill Landry reported he attended a meeting at Sawyer's and received a document on what we would have to do to participate.  He believes it is totally legitimate.  Most of what we have to do is with the State of NH not the Granite State Poker people.  Bill reviewed the State agencies we must be registered with.  Myrtle Rogers stated she did not approve of this.  Bill reported the range of donation per day is $50 to $1300.

2010 Dues – Bill Landry reminded the members that dues are due now.

New Business: None

Correspondence: Bill Landry received a correspondence from Steven Robert Closs.  Steven gives seminars on the Civil War, tailoring the presentation on the people from the town he's speaking in .  His seminars are usually 1-1 ½ hours.  His fee is $100/hour. Bill will pass this on to Sally Woodman, chair of the Project committee.  Bill suggested we could have it at the Town Hall.  John Meserve suggested having it at our November meeting.  Myrtle noted that the following Tuesday will be the elections and the Town Hall may not be available the night before.  Cheryl Saunders suggested we could have it at the Country Pond Fish and Game Club.

Other:
Bill Landry reported he had received some information from Bill Engel's mother, Emma, on the M&M club.  Bill explained that the M&M club was a church associated group that is mentioned in several papers but nobody seems to know what it stands for.  Mrs. Engel said she was not really a member of this group, but she recalls there being two different names – the Midnight Marauders and the Minister's Mistresses.  She doesn't think either were the official name of the group.

Bill Landry asked Mary Marshall if she was going to place flags on the veterans graves in the Highland, Town Hall and Currierville cemeteries.  Mary said she would.  Bill will give Mary Marshall the flags.  Bill will contact the Memorial School to give them flags for the cemetery they do.  Anyone interested in participating should contact Mary Marshall for the date and time.

Bill Landry showed a Power Point presentation of the stages of the Primary Schoolhouse renovation and the moving of the display cases from the Peabody Museum.

Cheryl Saunders made a motion to adjourn.  Marilyn Landry seconded the motion.  The motion passed on a unanimous vote.  Bill Landry adjourned the meeting at 7:56PM.

Next meeting is Monday June 14, 2010 at the Merrimack Savings Bank.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Riordan, Secretary
