Minutes
..
(Please note unscheduled matters are limited to a 15-minute discussion)
  • Meeting called to order by Vice Chair Nancy Slombo  at 7:45  Roll Call Vote, Selectman Liaison Lisa Gonyer, Sandy Estabrook, and Trisha McCarthy (transcribing minutes)
  • Introduction of Guests: Rick Milner, requested to speak as a concerned town resident (not as an employee of the town)
Mr. Milner stated that he would like the Conservation Commission to know about the issues last week.  Chair Slombo asked what he was referring to.  McCarthy also asked what it was in reference to.  Milner said he wanted to let Conservation know that if they try to conduct a Public Site Walk without allowing all of the public to have access, then he would report the Town of Newton to the authorities for violating the Right To Know law.  Much discussion ensued.  Conservation member suggested that perhaps if a resident was not welcomed on property by owner, then maybe they would consider what was best for the town and voluntarily step aside so the conservation commission could view the property and share their findings with the other town boards..  McCarthy stated that the conservation commission canceled the site walk because the owner of the 125 Development Business (lot 27-3) could not produce the requested DES Wetland Crossing Application.   As a result, site walk was canceled.
