TIME: 7:30
LOCATION: NEWTON TOWN HALL, 2 TOWN HALL ROAD
Rear of Building
Minutes
- Call to Order, 7:33 Roll Call Vote Chairman Mears, Sandy Estabrook, Jacklyn Heffner and Trisha McCarthy
- Introduction of Guests: Dennis Quintal
- Discussed the need to survey town conservation properties…: (Property on Currierville Rd, Hadley Road, Town Forest). Discussed what we hope to accomplish and the various degrees of surveying; (Control points, pins, rods) etc, will cost more. They require more research, more labor and that equals more money. The most cost sensible way to go may to do a survey as if it were for Tree Harvest forestry purposes. This is define the area and then the conservation commission can determine if signs are appropriate or not.
- We have selected our Earth Day to be April 18th, 2015
- Discussed the purchase of a small token of appreciation to hand out to residents that participate during Newton’s Earth Day on the 18th. Chairman Mears made a motion to buy 100 water bottles for $1.71 for the first 100 people, plus shipping and handling . Sandy Estabrook second and all in favor. Motion passes
- Trisha McCarthy will create a flyer and leave at Town Hall to be given out. Also first Saturday in April Newton’s Animal Control Officer (Kim Mears) will be at fire station for the rabies clinic. We could pass out flyers at that time
- Discussed having our UNH County Representative Fred Borman III, come to a meeting. fred.bowman@unh.edu 603-679-5616. He will be glad to come to a meeting.
- We will finish flyers to hand out and maybe we could hand them out on Election Day. Trisha McCarthy could make a large poster for town hall..
- Discussed doing an ad for the paper after elections are done and the possibility of putting something about Earth Day on the Town Web Site and Town Cable channel.
