Conservation Commission Minutes for February 2, 2012   

In Attendance: Peter, Nancy, Shelia, and Pat.
Guest: Jacklyn Heffner
Peter called the meeting to order at 7:40pm
Kim recorded the Minutes.


Correspondence-

  • Woodward & Curran; Fall 2011 Issue.
  • 2011 Conservation Budget Expenditures- $3,750.00 Variance (2,390.00).
  • Wetlands Preservation, Inc- 2012 Calendar.
  • Ben Meadows Catalogue
Other Business-
  • A check was written from the Newton NH Savings Account to reimburse the Conservation Budget in the amount of $328.70.
The original check written from savings was payable to the NHACC and to Reimburse secretary Kimberly Lowther for materials purchased for the Conservation Commission.  

  • Shelia discussed a Televised Rockingham Planning Commission meeting previously viewed on Cable. The Commission discussed NH State Conservation Savings Funds and considering changing the method in which it operates.
New Business-

1.   Conservation Members discussed 2012 Warrant Article and reviewed
RSA-231-A.
A  Class B trail shall be a full public right-of-way of indefinite duration subject to public trail use restrictions. It shall not have the status of a publicly approved street, shall not be used as a vehicular access for any new or existing building or structure, and shall not be used by the owners of land served by or abutting on such trail in any manner inconsistent with applicable public trail use restrictions.

  • Peter had met with a Forrester who will be cutting the Fish and Game land between Amesbury Road and Bear Hill Road. Two ten acre sections and selective cutting.
New England cotton tail rabbits are dying off. Not enough clear land. This selective cutting should help increase the population of the native rabbit.
