Conservation Commission Minutes for April 2, 2009  

Attendance:
Peter, Trisha, Shelia, Pat and Nancy.

Guest: Mary Anne Lapierre

        Peter called the meeting to order at 7:44pm.
        Kim recorded the minutes.

Minutes Review. Peter made a motion to accept the minutes of March 19, 2009 as written.  Pat Seconded. All in Favor.  

Correspondence:
  • 2009 Budget Expenditures. Grand Total $3,700.00, Year to Date Expense 172.98, Variance $3,577.02.
  • Complaint. Dumping horse manure and contaminating materials on property line. Unsafe handling of waste materials. 62 Thornell Road, Newton.
  • Newton Planning Board Technical Review Committee Meeting Notes March 16, 2009.
  • Legislative Bulletin March 20, 2009.
  • Legislative Bulletin March 27, 2009.
  • Planning Board- $40.00 donation in memory of Fred Gundersen.
Peter motioned to accept the donation in memory of Fred Gundersen. Pat Seconded. All in Favor. The check was given to the Selectmen for Approval.

New Business:
  • Members discussed the Site Walk held prior to tonight’s meeting at 64 Thornell Road. Homeowner brought Conservation members to his property line to discuss improper handling of manure at 62 Thornell Road. Conservation members reported that’s the manure pile was full, needs to be dumped, and covered to contain the waste from wetlands. The manure pile should be kept on the opposite side of the yard. Two horses were seen on the premise. A letter will be sent to NHDES, and Residents of 62 and 64 Thornell Road, Newton NH.  
Peter motioned to send a letter to NHDES concerning the horse manure issue at 62 Thornell Road, Newton NH. Pat Seconded. All in Favor.


2. Peter made a motion to accept Newton resident, Mary Anne Lapierre as an alternate. Shelia Seconded. All in Favor. Term Expiring in 2011.

Old Business: There is land in Newton that the Conservation would like to hold an easement on to preserve open space. Conservation will look into matching grant to see if we could make an offer on the land.

Peanut Trail:
  • Peter walked down the Peanut Trail and reported a Trailer on Town land.
  • Peter had walked past Bob Whites land along the Peanut Trail and mentioned the mess on his land.
Other Business:
  • Received a report that a tracker is buried in the wetlands Near 68 Smith Corner Road. Peter will check into it tomorrow.
