Conservation Commission Minutes for 03/16/06


Attending were: Chairperson-Trisha McCarthy, Mary Marshall, Kim Vallient, Peter Mears

Minutes reviewed from March 3, 2006 Mary made motion to accept as amended to include the following.  Bio Monitor Day at the Busch farm will include the 5th grade.  We will find information to give to the school prior to that day on lime tick disease and to dress appropriately.

6.      Merrimac Saving $172,722.99 as of  2/28/06
7.      Notice of Decision date 3/7/06 from the planning board stating they did approve a Conditional Use Permit for Robert Sacco of 7 Maple Ave for the purposes of owning and operating Marketing & Public Relations company involving printing.
8.      Notice of Intent to Excavate for Pond St. for 30,000 square feet. Dated 2/13/06 and re-signed after inspection on 3/14/06

10.     Letter from DES concerning White Fence Development, Re; “Sargeants Woods”, Newton (tax /lot 14/3 & 3-1 (Site Specific Permit Application 040127-01.
11.     Notice of Decision, Board of Selectman authorizing Frank Gibbs to place season load limit signs throughout the town. Per RSA 231:191

  Trails:   
1.Trisha did call Lavaille Engineering on markers that have been placed on the peanut trail.  She reminded the engineering company that the Peanut trail is an 80” track of land.  
2. Someone has moved a stonewall on Old Lower Road and actually got stuck in Old Lower Road.  

Land Acquisition:  
1.      Phil Parry called to say there is a cloud in the dimensions of the site His researcher has done the research three times and Phil is wanted us to know that he is not comfortable with the size.
2.      Peter wanted to know the next step with Mr. Joseph Pottie.  It was decided that Peter would let him know that we discussed his property and it’s importance to the conservation commission, and the commission will establish the priorities of a purchase or easement and get back to him.
3.      George and Bulla were also discussed and the summary was that they are not interested in an easement

New Business:  
1.      77 N. Main Street wants us to buy about an acre of the back land that abuts Busch Farm.  They are willing to include a path of land from Rte 108, on the left side of their property (if you were facing their home from the road), and include this strip of land all the way to the Busch Farm.  Trisha discussed the site walk and that it was not very wet.  Also a lot of beaver damage at the base of their property and onto the Busch Farm.
2.      The committee took the tax maps out and started their list of important land to them, open space and potential easements or purchases.
3.      Mary made motion to pay for anyone who wants go to the Saving Special Places at $45.00 a person.  Location is Kingwood Regional High School in Wolfeboro, NH
