Conservation Commission Minutes for September 1, 2005
Attending were: Chairperson-Trisha McCarthy, Mary Marshall, Pat Wonson, Nancy Slombo
Chairperson, Trisha McCarthy called meeting to order at 7:40pm.

Correspondence:
1. Received email from DES re: DES Watershed Assistance Section that is requesting Pre-Proposals for both 2006 Watershed Assistance and 2006 Watershed Restoration Grants. They further stated that anyone in the past who applied will note some changes from the past application processes. This new pre-proposal press is designed to allow organizations to submit a project idea for consideration with out completing the full proposal application (as was required in past years) Applicants must submit a pre-proposal to be considered for funding. The pre-proposals will be used to select project proposals for further discussion and possible funding through DES interviews with potential project implementers. It was further discussed that we may not have enough time to write this up, however con com members will check out the web site to establish criteria for watershed and to see if we should write up request.
2. The Nature Conservancy newsletter re: a new project to develop a Coastal Watershed Land conservation Plan. It was discussed that we will contact them to see how they decide their criteria and will they share their ideas. Mark Zankel is director of the Conservation Programs for the Nature Conservancy and we will contact him.
3. Municipal Law Lecture Series. Location for Lecture Series is Town Hall in Newmarket, NH Dates are as follows and are on Wednesday nights from 7-9pm: The fee is $45.00 for all three sessions.
a. 10-19-05 for Ethics for Land Use Board Members
b. 10-26-05 For Land Use Regulation
c. 11-02-05 For Off-Site Exactions and Impact Fees
The Lecture Series was discussed and it was decided that we should attend. Mary made a motion that we would pay for 3 seats for all three lectures, totaling $135.00

Trails:
Discussed Beaver problems. Peter said he has walked the peanut trail, lower road and is looks like we have about 10 beavers active at this time. We are getting many complaints of high water, and fear mosquito problems. Peter said he will charge $75.00 per beaver.
Trisha made motion to authorize up to $750.00 for beaver removal
