NEWTON CABLE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

DATE:           June 13, 2012
PLACE:          Town Meeting Hall
TIME:                   5:30p.m.
CALL TO ORDER:  5:32p.m.
Roll Call:      Diane Morin, Chairman; Mary Winglass, Public       Relations/Programmer, Sally Woodman, Secretary;
        Donna Judge, Operator
Minutes from Previous Meeting of May 23, 2012:
Donna motioned to accept the minutes of May 13 as written. Diane seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Budget:
The budget was reviewed. The committee went through the expenditures to date and decided there would have to be cuts. The possibilities were noted.
Correspondence and Communications:
Review Programing Schedule:
Upcoming Events:
The Newton Historical Society will be presenting the speaker, Jere Daniels, on July 18th upstairs in the Town Hall. The program will begin at 7:00pm and run approximately one and one half hours in length. As one way to cut back on expenditures, Diane will be filming this presentation.
Unfinished Business:
  • The committee decided that we will have to live without replacing the problematic UPS’s due to budgetary constraints.
  • The problem with the camera that prevented us from filming the commemorative  portion of the Memorial Day Service held in the cemetery has been corrected.  Donna was able to trouble shoot the cause and determined that the standby/lock switch was not in the correct position.
  • After discussing what kind of camera to recommend to Reverend Jim it was decided that Donna will explore the web camera usage and Diane will research the various camcorders.
  • The suggestion to ask Reverend Jim if a member of his congregation could join the cable committee to simplify  the upload of the services to Channel 20.  This would save the committee from having to pay an operator the minimum of 2 hours to upload a 60 minute recording.
New Business:
Mary reviewed the information on creating a warrant article for next year that she has collected. She will continue to pursue this as more information is necessary.
Other:
  • The committee filled out the evaluation sheet on Scott DePanfilis. Mary will type up the finalized copy and get it to Scott so that he can come to our next meeting to make any comments he might have on it.
  • Donna then left the meeting so that the remaining committee members could fill out her evaluation sheet. Some rewording was made in both Scott’s and Donna’s job description to better reflects their jobs.
Next Cable Committee meeting:  June 27, 2012
Adjournment:

                                        Respectfully submitted,

                                        Sally Woodman
                                        Secretary
