  NEWTON CABLE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

PLACE:          Town Meeting Hall
TIME:                   5:30p.m.
CALL TO ORDER:  5:45pm
Roll Call:      Diane Morin, Chairman; Mary Winglass, Public       Relations/Programmer: Sally Woodman, Secretary: Donna Judge, Operator
Minutes from Previous Meeting of March 21, 2012:
Donna motioned to accept the minutes as written. Mary seconded and the motioned passed unanimously.
Budget: The budget was reviewed.
Correspondence and Communications:
Review Programing Schedule: The scheduling is all set at this time.
Upcoming Events:
  • The baseball opening day will be filmed by Donna at Greenie Park.
  • The plans for the Memorial Day Parade are still being formulated by the BOS.
Unfinished Business:
  • Donna made a motion to reimburse Diane for platforms she purchased at a price of $54.50 to be paid from the equipment line item. Mary seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
  • The committee discussed the possibility of setting the camera up at the Town Hall for the Memorial Day Parade. The logistics of filming from there and getting to the cemetery in time were also taken into consideration.
  • Sylvania will write up instructions for Donna and Diane to preform backups to the cable system.
  • The resumes received to date were discussed and Diane will respond to the applicants.
  • The wording of the advertisement for operators was changed. The words, entry level, have been inserted. Also, the wording now indicates that the job would require no more than 10 hours a month, at most, and that some meetings can begin as early as 4:00pm or as late as 7:00pm. Meetings generally run around 2 hours in length. The new wording also includes a cutoff date for recite of an application.
New Business:
  • Diane has agreed to fill in for Donna at the May 1st meeting.
  • David now has other commitments for his time and will not be able to put in as much time as he has in the past. Donna will ask him about the possibility of taping the school board and recreation meetings.
Other:
  • Donna was able to obtain the NH Chronicle programs containing information on Newton.  She was given four hours remittance to combine just the Frtiz Weatherby segments of the Chronicle that pertain to Newton.
