Correspondence and Communications:
  • The cable committee received their copy of the finalized Comcast Franchise contract. Sally will place this in the cable room file cabinet.
  • Mary W was asked to repeat her request for the extra black boxes needed.
Review Programing Schedule:
Upcoming Events:
  • The Newton Historical Society will be hosting a Luminary Event Sunday, December 10 at the School House on Main Street. The tree will be decorated by the young people who will have created their decorations at the Gale Library at 4:30p.m. Food and drink will be available. The tree will be lighted at 5:30p.m. We will not be taping this event due to lighting issues.
Unfinished Business:
  • The Board of Selectmen has requested that their meeting be streamed on the internet.  Currently the file that the Nexus creates is not compatible with the streaming host.  Donna will look into what software can be used to convert the file.  Mary W will then give the recommendation to IT so they can install it on her laptop.  The other boards have declined this offer.
  • Donna will look into editing and conversion software for use on the Cable pc.  Diane motioned to allow Donna Judge to pay up to $500.00 for the purchase of software that she deems acceptable. Mary M seconded and the motion passed unanimously
  • The committee discussed the amount of time broadcasts of board meeting will be retained. It was decided that three months would be appropriate. A motion was made by Diane to keep recorded town and school board meeting for three months. This was seconded by Sally and passed unanimously.  Diane will notify the town’s department heads as well as the Superintendent of Schools of this decision.
New Business:
  • Ideas for the station’s ID and logo were looked at and discussed.  The committee chose to use “Newton Cable” for the station id.  Mary W. will email Scott with the changes the committee would like for the station logo.
  • Diane made a motion to give Mary Winglass permission to sign various documents that have been approved by the committee for payment by the bookkeeper/payroll administrator. Mary M seconded and the vote was unanimous.
  • Donna offered to try to add holiday music to Channel 20. The committee agreed with this idea.  It will begin after Thanksgiving.
Other:
  • Donna will notify the Recreation Committee that they need to inform her of their meetings so she can schedule the cable operators.
