CABLE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
DATE: August 31, 2011
PLACE: Town Meeting Hall

CALL TO ORDER: 5:33p.m.
Roll Call: Diane Morin, Chairman; Mary Winglass, Public Relations/Programmer, Sally Woodman, Secretary;
Mary Marshall, Production Manager
Minutes from Previous Meeting of July 27, 2011:
Mary Marshall made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Diane seconded and the vote passed unanimously.
Budget: The committee reviewed the July budget.
Correspondence and Communications:
Review Programing Schedule:
- Scott DePanfilis is presently working on several slides.
Upcoming Events:
- The public hearing for the Franchise Renewal with Comcast is being held Tuesday, September 6, 2011.
Unfinished Business:
- The USB policy review was tabled.
- The Franchised was reviewed. Our lawyer made the one change requested by the BOS concerning designated Scenic Roadways. Mr. Epstein also prepared a draft relating to the Franchise payment from January 1, 2011 to November 19, 2011 to be signed by the BOS. Mary W. will change the date on the Franchise Renewal contract to September 6, 2011.
- The committee wrote a brief statement to be made at the upcoming Public Hearing on September 6 and all Cable committee members will try to be there.
- Diane will contact Comcast and request a meeting to discuss the contract.
- It has been decided that the wireless microphones we have will be used for the time being. The BOS will be informed that cells need to be shut off or moved away from the microphones during broadcasting.
New Business:
- David Kohl’s evaluation was completed by the committee and will be given to him. We will invite him to the September 14 meeting to respond to the evaluation.
- The newspaper article announcing the Public Hearing, created by Sally and amended by Mary M., has been submitted to the Lawrence Eagle Tribune and the Carriage Town News.
