Meeting Minutes
Thursday, May 21, 2015

Call to Order at 7:00 pm   with the Pledge of Allegiance
A regular monthly meeting of the Newbury Historical Commission was held at the Newbury Town Hall.
Members present: Channing Howard, Nancy Thurlow, Jan Forrest, Lon Hachmeister, and Sue Nagle
Members absent: Eva Jackman
Approval of Minutes:   The minutes of the April 2015 meeting were presented.  A motion was made to accept.   It was seconded, and the motion carried with a unanimous vote.

CORRESPONDENCE:   
  • MVPC – no action.  They are still sending brochures addressed to Patsy Brown.
  • Commonwealth Museum Brochure – no action
Treasurer’s Report

Committee Reports:   None
Old /continuing Business
  • School repairs to be done spring of 2015.  
  • Sue Noyes is continuing to work on getting the committee access to the 1635 website.  We may have to hire someone to recreate the site.
  • A suggestion was made to talk about a Plaque for the School House in Chris’ memory in the near future.
  • We need to have multiple storage places:  CD’s-Schoolhouse; Website person; Town Hall.
  • We still need new members.
  • Archival $ to be used.
  • Form C (MHC inventory forms) for objects:  milestones, Witch’s Stone, Cow Crossing Sign.  
New Business
  • School House repairs; work left; remove bathroom fixtures; Repair Chimney
  • Keys for the Cabinets in the Library
  • School House cleaning;  opening dates;  handouts to be copied
  • Re-appointments were sent to the Town Clerk, per request.
  • Sue & Nancy scanned the aerial maps.  They will write up notes on how to use the scanner.
Discussions:  
  •  DDB Workshop at W. Newbury on 05-18-15; Nancy & Lon attended.  
  • 1635 website.  Channing has someone who will look at the website.  He now has the password to gain access.
  • We need to find out what the actual amount was for the sale of the 375th coins
  • Jan updated the NHC “Establishment, Powers & Duties.  They were accepted with minor amends and seconded.  Jan will get a copy to the Library, along with a list of NHC members for access to keys.
  • Town meeting - $10,000 set for archival projects.  We need to get a list together on what needs to get preserved.  We need to check with Leslie to if any projects are scheduled.

The next meeting of the Historical Commission will be on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 7:00 at Town Hall. The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 PM.
