BOARD OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING
MAY 12, 2011
Chairman Story opened the meeting at 3 p.m. with the pledge of allegiance to our flag. In attendance were Selectmen Story, Bear, Bulgaris, Walker, Town Administrator Tracy Blais and Counsel Penski.
At 3:02 p.m. the legal notice for a public hearing for an “all alcohol restaurant license” for Gregg T. Pugh d/b/a Plum Island Beachcoma @ 23 P.I. Blvd. was read by Chairman Story. It was moved by Selectman Bulgaris and seconded by Selectman Bear to grant the license. Chairman Story opened the hearing up to questions and discussion from the audience. Jim Dziadosz of 20 P.I. Blvd. commented that he had no objections to the license but the restaurant has been closed for several years and he has enjoyed the quiet. He asked Mr. Pugh about his operating hours. Pugh responded that he would be open from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. with last call at 11:30 p.m. This will be a year round restaurant aimed at family fare. Dziadosz noted he was concerned about noise as he has small children. During summer months the bar could be noisy and he hoped Pugh would address this problem if it arises. Dziadosz stated he would not hesitate to call the Police and Selectmen if there
are ongoing problems. Pugh advised he was aware of the closeness of the properties and hoped that as a family venue and last call at 11:30 p.m. he could keep the noise under control. Signage in the parking lot may abate problems. Pugh said he thought he had spoken with all the abutters and promised to try to fix any problems that may arise. He asked Dziadosz to come to him first so he could try to correct any oversights. Selectman Walker noted that it will not be as quiet as it was, there will be some changes. Dziadosz stated he understood and just wanted to put all parties on notice. Story asked if there were any other questions or comments and there were none. The motion for granting the license was voted unanimously and the application will be sent to ABCC for final approval. The hearing was closed at 3:10 p.m.
The Annual Town Meeting Warrant was reviewed article by article and a few typographical errors corrected. Selectman Bulgaris moved to approve the warrant as amended, seconded by Selectman Bear and voted unanimously. The warrant was signed by the Selectmen and will be posted by the Constable.
A one day liquor license for Protection Fire Co., #2 for Friday, May 20, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight for a function was granted on a motion by Selectman Bear, seconded by Selectman Bulgaris and voted unanimously.
A license renewal for the parking lot at 11 Fordham Way for blue, The Inn on the Beach was approved on a motion by Selectman Bear, seconded by Selectman Bulgaris and voted unanimously.
