CONSERVATION COMMISSION MEETING

MINUTES OF APRIL 7, 2005


TREASURER’S REPORT
$191,195.64 in account and $1,282.47 in the bridge CD

INVASIVE SPECIES
        Lyn Lombard will do a presentation for the public. CC will ask PWA and the River Association if they wish to co-sponsor it with the CC. Lyn suggested a Thurs. evening (potentially May 19th or 26th) to be held in the upper Town Hall. Joe will write a letter of inquiry to PWA and the River Association.

TAX/MAP 002-062-004
        Planning Board has sent CC a letter of request to possibly contact Mr. Benevides of Twin Bridge Road to consult with him on best management practice by DES standards for utilizing some of his land involving wetlands for a horse and goat pasture as well as possibly doing a driveway neat the wetlands for access for his tractor trailer. Rebecca moved and Melissa seconded that CC withhold communication until such time as Mr. Benevides applies for a driveway permit which the PB has advised him he must do if he pursues the above intentions.

CC LANDS MONITORED
        CC members will walk the CC piece of land that he/she volunteered to monitor and report on the property’s character at the May meeting. Rebecca volunteered to do Saunders Pasture for Burr.

OPEN SPACE
        Ken Lombard, chair of the Open Space Committee, sent a letter presenting CC with a draft of the Open Space Guidelines for CC to review. A concern was expressed that the wording of LARGE UNFRAGMENTED BLOCKS OF LAND is awkward.

TRIS GORDON - TAX MAP 003-005
        Lull Road Corp – A hearing will be held with the ZBA/PB on April 19th for his request to receive a gravel permit for the property.
TAX MAPS – 014-056-007 & 014-058 – MICHAEL BOYLE
        Joe English Road – this sub-division will be on the PB agenda April 26. Joe will write a letter to the PB requesting that CC will be involved when the PB does an onsite for this property due to the wetlands involved within the building lots.

TAX MAP – 008-084-030 – JOE FOISTNER
        Foxberry Drive- Seff has requested to subdivide the one lot into two lots. Joe will write to the PB requesting a joint onsite with CC and PB due to the wetlands involved.

VOTING OF CC OFFICERS
        To be held annually following Town Meeting. It was decided to defer this until the CC May meeting when a full board will be expected in attendance.

COMMERCIAL TRAIL AND BOUNDARY MARKERS
        Were sent to CC from the ONP Company of CT. Markers and prices were discussed and CC members rejected the idea of purchasing them, mainly with the thought of them being easily vandalized if we did purchase and use them.
