Invitation to Bid - Painting the Town Hall
TOWN OF MONTEREY INVITATION TO BID

THE TOWN OF MONTEREY THROUGH ITS SELECTBOARD INVITES SEALED BIDS FROM QUALIFIED CONTRACTORS TO PAINT THE EXTERIOR OF THE MONTEREY TOWN HALL.  A BID PACKAGE CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THE INTERDEPARTMENTAL SECRETARY DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS AT THE TOWN HALL, 435 MAIN ROAD, MONTEREY, MA. 01245 OR ONLINE AT WWW.MONTEREYMA.GOV .

SEALED BIDS ARE DUE AT THE SELECTBOARD’S MEETING BY MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2012 AT 9:00AM AND THEY WILL BE OPENED AND READ AT THAT TIME.

THE SELECTBOARD IS THE AWARDING AUTHORITY AND THEY RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY OR ALL BIDS, TO WAIVE ANY MINOR INFORMALITIES AND TO MAKE AN AWARD IN ANY MANNER CONSISTENT WITH THE LAW AND DEEMED TO BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE TOWN OF MONTEREY.

BID SPECIFICATIONS FOR PAINTING OF THE TOWN HALL MONTEREY

Bids for painting the Town Hall will be accepted until August 13, 2012 at 9am at the Selectboard’s office at 435 Main Road. Work to be done includes the following:
  • Power  washing the exterior
  • Scraping any loose, blistered or peeling paint
  • Using suitable ground cover to protect and collect any paint chips or flakes.
  • Caulking around windows and doors
  • Painting of all exposed wood, including, but not limited to siding, porches, wood railings, eaves, soffits, window and door frames.
  • Paint color to match existing colors. Samples to be provided
  • Paint to be Latex, flat for wood siding, semi-gloss on wood trim, by Benjamin Moore, Pratt & Lambert, Sherwin Williams or equal to be approved by Director of Operations
  • Contractor to provide means to keep public away from work areas.
  • All work to be brushed in.
  • The oldest section of the building(the old Grange) will require 2 coats of paint, areas of bare wood to be primed
  • Comply with Manufacturer’s instructions
  • Any areas with paint on them that shouldn’t have paint on them to be cleaned and paint removed, ie. Windows, parking areas etc.
  • Three references to be provided of similar work
  • Prevailing wages to be paid and wage reports provided weekly
  • Certificate of insurance to be provided, liability and workman’s comp
  • Certification that all taxes are paid
  • MGL c. 30B,S5 shall be followed
