TOWN OF MONTEREY
INVITATION TO BID
ROAD PAVING
The Town of Monterey, acting through the Select board, will accept sealed bids until Monday May 19, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Town Offices, Monterey Grange#291, 435 Main Road, Post Office Box 308, Monterey, MA. 01245. Absolutely no bids will be accepted after that time. The sealed bids are for paving on Curtis Road. The project will consist of three(3) lifts of bituminous concrete: base 3 ” in depth, 22.5 feet wide, 2800 feet long, binder 1.5” in depth, 22.5feet wide, 2800 feet long, and Mass top, 1.5” in depth, 22.5 feet wide and 2800 feet long. Approximately 1193 tons will be necessary for the base, 597 tons for the binder course and 612 tons for the Top course. The bridge over the Konkapot River will be milled down approximately 1.5” and tack coated to accept the Top
course only. All materials and workmanship are to meet the latest State specifications. At each end of the project, grinding the existing pavement to make a smooth joint will be required. Two, ten ton rollers will be required for the job. A sufficient number of trucks for transporting the bituminous concrete to the site will be required. The plane of the finished surface shall be smooth and acceptable to the Director of Operations. The Town of Monterey reserves the right to take a sample out of any haul truck at any given time or check the temperature of the material on the job site in any haul truck. Prevailing wage rates shall apply under Chapter 149, Sections 26 and 27.

Bid opening shall take place at the Monterey Town Offices, Monterey Grange #291, 435 Main Road, Monterey, Ma. 01245. Envelopes shall be clearly labeled “Curtis Road Paving Bid”. Bid must include a 5% bid deposit. The successful bidder must furnish a 100% performance bond. Contractors intending to bid on this project must first obtain a REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FORM from the Contract Engineer, Room 7551, 10 Park Plaza, Boston, Ma. 02116-3973. This form must be completed and submitted to the contract engineer for approval. Work shall be completed by June 13, 2008. The Town of Monterey, acting through its Select board, reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all bids if deemed to be in the Towns best interest. The MINORITY EMPLOYEE percentage rate to be applied to
