SPECIFICATIONS FOR BODY, SANDER, SNOWPLOW, TOOL CARRIER AND EQUIPMENT
It is the intent of the following MINIMUM specifications to describe a heavy duty year round use as well as snow fighting equipment. Bid proposals shall include all specifications and any deviations shall be explained in writing. Failure to submit bid sheets may be just cause for rejection. Bids shall be addressed to Selectboard, Town Hall as per cover letter. Unit shall meet all OSHA, Federal and State Laws.
GENERAL
All equipment shall be new and of the latest design
All workmanship shall be of the highest quality and standards and fit and work as intended with the 2007 Chevrolet 4500
Unit shall consist of a heavy duty truck hitch, snowplow, dump body, sander, central hydraulics, ground speed microprocessor, 2 foot full width tool carrier and options. Any item necessary to make a complete and fully operational unit shall be included
All wiring shall be sealed in a junction box. No splices outside sealed units
When bidding an equal, specifications must be attached, photos included
Truck to be completed within 80 calander days from drop off of cab and chassis
Warranty shall be a minimum of one year against defects in materials and workmanship
All controls shall be ergonomically placed and installed to the satisfaction of the Director of Operations
DUMP BODY
Body shall be a 9’, 3-4 yard, all 10 gauge high tensile steel, 8 gauge floor, 24” cab shield
Tailgate shall be double acting, 3” structural channel cross members on 12” centers, Double Wall sides, material shedding boxed top rail such as R/S design. Full depth 10” rear corner posts, front corner posts, vertical side braces, sloped rub rails, side board pockets, approved quick release tailgate hardware, 6” structural channel long sills
Stoker type asphalt door. Single center factory installed, drawing to be submitted for approval
Federal standard lights and reflectors, body to be painted to match cab
Aero 575 Asphalt type coverall, direct drive, mounted low and forward. Enclosed spring arms, wiring to coverall to be enclosed in conduit and protected
Hoist shall be largest possible, minimum 6inch cylinder with 24 inch stroke, class 30 low pressure full sub frame double acting hoist
Full width rear bolster
Four mud flaps with raise alarm with light and buzzer
SANDER
Sander to be a Swenson MDV944 or equal, 70” width, 9’long, 44” height all 304 stainless steel, 4.0 cubic yard level capacity. 10” stainless steel deflectors on both ends. Hydraulic drive of spinner and conveyor separately through electric ground speed valves.
16” wide minimum conveyor with 6 tooth forged heavy duty sprockets
Bolt in stainless steel aprons, bolted in inverted tee. Four nylon ratchet tie downs and flush mount lower tailgate lock. Four section screens.
HYDRAULICS, CONTROLS, LIGHTING
Cab mounted ground speed control system shall be a Dickey John Control Point system, no exceptions to match Towns previous systems
Fan belt driven clutch gear pump for Duramax diesel with factory mounting kit for pump with adjustment. Flow shall be between 4.5 and 6.5 GPM, or what ever is necessary to operate all systems adequately. Excessive noise will not be acceptable.
Dual PWM valves, 46709-2100 for sander. Valves shall be electrically operated and be enclosed in sealed cabinet made of non-corrosive material approved by Director of Operations
Flow of valves shall exceed pump flow at maximum.
Control of snow plow and dump body shall be by joy stick operation with four push buttons on joy stick with trigger lock. Joystick to be mounted to an arm rest with location to be approved by Director of Operations.
Joy stick and sander controls to be manufactured by Dickey-John.
Cast iron sectional valves for plow raise double acting with float, double acting for plow angle, double acting for dump body
Sander control system shall be Dickey John Control Point complete with wireless transmitting to Highway Department Computer located at office at Gould Road. All components needed and necessary shall be included to download within 400 feet of office
Dickey-John Hopper level sensor installed to manufacturers specifications.
Ambient and road surface temperature sensors to be installed and shall be shown on control point console.
Factory technical rep along with vendor rep shall provide all training, adjustments, etc. on site at Town Highway garage in Monterey. Any hardware or software upgrades to be provided on site at no charge.
Four sander lines with Parker quick disconnects with plate in rear, location to be approved by Director of Operations. 15 gallon reservoir, spin on 10 micron filter, restriction gauge, ball valve.
Control Console for a two way radio and light controls from Jotto Desk or Havis Shield shall be installed under dash with approval of Director of Operations
90 watt power supply with four amber heads in steel mounting boxes with grommets, two in the cabshield with 45 degree mounting, two rear posts with grommets. Whelen Mini Edge with two amber strobes and two white strobes all facing forward, to be mounted on top of cab. Whelen switch panel to allow white and amber to be run separately. Corner post lights must be stop/turn, and strobes located in bolster must not stick out side of body. White sander lights, 50 watt halogen bulbs, with pigtail to be installed on sander in approved locations to illuminate ground behind truck and to the side with separate switch.
Trailer hitch, pigtail, wiring, rear end protection shall be incorporated into dump body hinge design and allow the use of the towns trailer to be plugged into wiring harness

TOOL CARRIER
Tool carrier behind cab shall be all galvaneal steel constructed of 14 gauge shell with 16 gauge gavanneal steel reinforced door compartments.

MISCELLANEOUS

Calibration for materials used by Town of Monterey to be done at the Town of Monterey Highway Department with approval and supervision of Director of Operations
OPTIONAL
1. Dickey-John ground speed controls previously installed in current Town of Monterey trucks shall be able to be updated to wireless to match new controls. Program to be offered to Town to upgrade to included all hardware, software, installation and training.
