Minutes of the meeting of 11/1/17
Meeting Opened at: 9am
Select Board Members Present: Steve Weisz, Chairperson, Carol Edelman and Kenneth Basler
Miscellaneous Items Reviewed:
- Warrants were signed.
- The Board continued discussions on the FY19 budget.
- Discussion continued on getting departments to submit their overdue FY17 town reports.
- The Board discussed the potential numbers to make the Monterey School habitable. It was agreed that all information and decisions to be made should be put before the town.
- The Board discussed the request to put up temporary signs for Hume’s pancake breakfast.
- Don Clawson reported that he is waiting on 1 item from the Clerk in order to finish setting the tax rate, it is projected to go up to 7.38. The Schedule A should be done after Thanksgiving.
- The Board will follow up with the Police Chief to make sure the sedan cruiser is taken off the road an insurance immediately.
- The Board will follow up with Terry Walker, grant writer to find out when the 2nd round is for the MassWorks grant. Dennis Lynch, grant writer will be asked to come to a future meeting.
- The Board discussed the need for a joint meeting with the Tree Warden and Director of Operations. It was also discussed whether the tree warden position should be elected or appointed.
- The Board met with Chief Backhaus about 2 potential part time officer candidates and agreed to raise the detail rate to $42/hr.
- Police Chief’s weekly report was reviewed.
