Minutes of the meeting of 11/14/14

Miscellaneous Select Board Items Reviewed:
The Board called this special meeting to discuss reconsidering a committee made up of volunteers at their November 10th meeting.
The Board explained that tonight’s meeting was called to discuss the fact that the Board does not feel after concerns were voiced that the committee members chosen on Monday are the right candidates and the Board is considering opening the committee up to more members and/or possible outside options. Also the Board stated that a scope of what the committee was to be tasked with needed to be further discussed; whether it was to address employee issues or the structure of the town hall and how the offices work together
The Board was given a sample of a Collins Center report (a group that does this professionally with unjaundiced eyes). Kenn stongly feels that this is a direction that will allow everyone to take a step back and to have a professional take a look at the whole town. Kenn requested that copies of the Sherborn report as well as the letter that went with it be made available for everyone to view at Monday night’s meeting. Kenn doesn’t feel this can be done locally as it will be difficult to separate the personal from the professional and that the Collins Group comes in with no baggage and writes up a report that the Select Board can choose to act on.
Too deep…trust needs to be built, knowledge needs to be expanded as it seems that several departments aren’t really aware of what other departments are responsible for.
The Board and full committee chosen to date will discuss this all further on Monday, November 17th at 4pm.
