Monterey Select Board
Minutes of the meeting of 6/8/09
Meeting Opened at: 4:00pm
Select Board Members Present: Scott Jenssen, Chairperson, Jon Sylbert and Wayne Burkhart
Also in attendance for parts of the meeting: Sue Protheroe for the Monterey News and Michael Storch (Finance Committee)
Miscellaneous Select Board Items Reviewed:
1. Warrants were signed.
2. The minutes from 6.1.09 were approved as written.
3. The mileage reimbursement policy was reviewed; questions were asked by members of the Conservation Commission on how to calculate starting and ending points. It was agreed that the policy is $0.40 a mile and if you are coming from outside of Monterey clocking of the mileage should start at the town line of Monterey. If you are leaving work to come to something in Monterey and then going back to work, your mileage can be calculated round trip from your place of work.
4. The Board discussed reasons why the Conservation Commission members (and other similar boards) aren’t compensated; especially when considering how many violations they’ve recently had to investigate. The Board asked me to investigate how many other towns have volunteer members and how many have paid Commissions.
5. The Board reviewed their mail.
6. Scott Jenssen reported that he visited Beartown Mtn Rd last Wednesday when the highway crew was chipping brush. He thought the road was in excellent condition and while there was some brush it didn’t appear to be a safety issue.
7. The Board is going to ask Linda Thorpe to come in to discuss sharing the issuing of fishing and hunting licenses with M. Noe.
8. The Board asked M. Noe to follow up with Town Counsel on the boat ramp and his meeting(s) with Foresight Land Services.
