Executive Session Minutes from 8/6/07
Police Interview
10:12am – 10:27am
Present: Jonathan Sylbert, Chair of the Select Board, Wayne Burkhart, Select Board member, Police Chief, Gareth Backhaus and Melissa Noe secretary to the Board (presence requested by Gareth Backhaus).
Roll call was taken by the Chair. Select Board members Jonathan Sylbert and Wayne Burkhart were present. A motion was made by W. Burkhart to go into executive session, seconded by J. Sylbert, and approved unanimously.
Items discussed:
- Christopher Balestro came in to interview for the full time Police Officer position. Mr. Balestro’s qualifications were reviewed. The Board reviewed the things that are important; community based policing, keeping things quiet. Mr. Balestro was asked how he would feel about leaving Gt. Barrington and coming to a small town like Monterey. Mr. Balestro’s only hesitation would be taking a dramatic pay cut.
At 10:27am J. Sylbert called this meeting to a close and return to an open meeting this was seconded by W. Burkhart and unanimously approved by the board.
