Selectboard Monday Evening
October 16, 2006
Meeting
Agenda: No specific agenda items
Selectboard: Michael Storch, Chairman
Attendees: Charles Mielke (CM)
1. CM wanted to make sure that at the Selectboard meeting of November 6th that the Board would develop an agenda of items that they would like to address to the School Committee at it’s meeting on Wednesday, November 16th. CM also suggested that the Board contact the School Committee to advise them that Monterey would like time to address the School Committee
on a number of subjects. The Chair thought it advisable to outline, in the correspondence to the School Committee, what it is that they wished to speak about.
Inasmuch as the Chair will not be in attendance at the 11/16 meeting he suggested that Jonathan Sylbert, in conjunction with CM and any other member of the sub-committee in attendance, formulate the items that the Selectboard and the Monterey School Advisory Sub-Committee wished to present to the School Committee on 11/16.
2. CM, after some investigation, discovered that there are only two (2) Towns, in our school district, that don’t have a Town flag; New Marlboro and Monterey. CM suggests that the two neighboring towns consider developing a plan to produce a flag that will be representative of their
respective towns. He further suggested that the towns bring together their school age children to formulate what their town flag should look like. When, and if, the flag is produced, CM proposed that the two towns contact the Massachusetts State House and arrange for the presentation of the respective flags to the State House Hall of Flags. Then, and only then,
will the Hall of Flags be truly representative of the all the Towns in our School District.
The Chair thought it was a worthy pursuit to consider.
The Chair adjourned the meeting at 8:30 PM.
