MONTEREY SELECT BOARD
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF MAY 1, 2006
The regular weekly meeting of the Monterey Select Board was opened at 8:30 a.m. with members Michèle Miller (Chair), Michael Storch, and Jonathan Sylbert all present.
In attendance for the meeting: Town Secretary Melissa Noe; Laurily Epstein of the Monterey News
· The Board met with Director of Operations Maynard Forbes to review Highway Department items, including the following:
o Schedule for grading roads
o Removal of winter sand from ditches on dirt roads
o Work on Sandisfield Road.
· The Board met with Chief Gareth Backhaus to review Police Department items.
· The Board met with Building Commissioner Don Torrico to review building department items.
· A motion was made by Miller and seconded by Storch to appoint Lisa Smyle as Memorial Day Parade Coordinator. The motion passed.
· The Board agreed to send an informational letter regarding Proposition 2 1/2 to the Town Warrant mailing list.
· Board of Assessors member Bob Lazzarini~ discussed the possibility of moving the public computer terminal to the lobby in order to make room in the hall for Assessor files. Options for placing the files at the top or bottom of the stairwell were also were discussed. Lazzarini will return next week after further consideration.
· The Board began a discussion finalizing the updating of job descriptions for Town employees.
· The Board congratulated outgoing Select Board member Michele Miller on her three years of service and wished her luck at her new job.
· In the absence of the Select Board Clerk, Town Secretary Melissa Noe was given instructions regarding correspondence.
· The Minutes of April 28, 2006, were approved as written.
· It was unanimously voted that the meeting be adjourned (12:15 p.m.).
