Special School Committee Meeting
School Committee Members: Ms. Silvestri, Mr. Flynn, Ms. Miller, Mr. Sears, Mr. Valentini, Mr. Willig, Mr. McSpiritt
Absent: Mr. Abelow
Administration: Dr. Singleton, Mr. Turner, Ms. Kenyon, Ms. Hubbard, Mr. Devoti

1. Vice Chairman Willig called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
2. Communications from the Audience:
A. There were no communications from the audience.
3. Business:
A. Mr. Valentini moved, seconded by Mr. Flynn, to approve the Treasurer to borrow, effective February 11, 2011 through June 30, 2011. Mr. Turner explained the timeline for the receipt of funds from member towns and noted that as there are four months between the November payment and the March payment, the District would need to borrow approximately $1.25 million. He added that such was likely to be the case every year.
Following discussion, Mr. Valentini moved to call the question.
The Committee then voted unanimously to allow the Treasurer to borrow.
4. Other Communications / Requests for Future Agenda Items
- Mr. Willig asked all Members to consider attending the annual “Day on the Hill” sponsored by the MA Association of School Committees on March 30. The Committee agreed that it would be a good idea to take students to the event, as well.
- Ms. Mielke distributed a copy of an article in the Monterey News written by Monterey Kindergarten Teacher Lynn Webster.
On a motion by Ms. Miller, seconded by Mr. Flynn, the meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
