Minutes for the 2-3-16 Monterey Parks Commission were approved as written. There was no meeting in March due to a lack of quorum.
Rink Take Down
The skating rink take down is scheduled for 4/16/16 at 9:30AM. Gary will order coffee and doughnuts for the volunteers from the usual provider and pick them up on 9/16 at 9:00AM. As usual, the Monterey Parks Commission will be billed directly. Please expedite the payment.
Lake Garfield
The Lake Garfield Beach will have Lifeguards in place for the weekend on June 18th and 19th. Beginning on June 25th, Lifeguards will be on duty Seven Days a week from 11:30AM till 5:30PM. Lifeguards will be provided through the Labor Day weekend, ending on Labor Day, September 5th.
The Parks Commission would like the Lifeguard contract with Berkshire South Recreation Center for 1 year, with a re-evaluation at the September Parks Commission Meeting on September 7th.
Kelly will type up the Beach Rules and send them to Berkshire South for them to train the Lifeguards.
Kelly will discuss putting up “Slow…Beach” signs with the Chief of Police and any other necessary town officials.
Baseball Field at Greene Park
Gary O’Brien will bring the baseball field up to specs in April. He will add the necessary dirt; groom the field etc at a cost of $1850. O’Brien will maintain the ball field 2x a month for $250/month for May and June (Total $500). He will rototill and iron rake the infield.
Lawn mowing
Gary O’Brien will complete the job for the same price as last year. Other vendors (Rick Mielke/ Scott Amstead etc.) will also be contacted. Because the contract will be less than $10,000 we need to get prices, not go through a formal bidding process.
The prices will be for a three year contract (7-1-16 through 6-30-19). The contract will include mowing the following areas: Greene Park, Bidwell Park, Parade Grounds at old Town Center, Parking area north of the Town Beach, Parking area across Tyringham Road.
Berkshire Fence
Berkshire Fence will fix the gates to the basketball court. The work should be completed by the end of next week. A new Backstop will be in by next week. It will be 16 feet tall, with a 6 foot hood. This should keep balls which are fouled back, out of the playground area.
Picnic Table for Greene Park
A picnic table will be moved from the town beach.
Kayak Rack
The Parks Commission will meet at 6:00PM at the Town Beach to discuss placement of Kayak racks.
