Parks Commission Minutes July 1, 2009
In attendance: Gary Shaw, Valerie Zantay, Bridget Krans, Josh Allentuck, Diana Piepho
Letter received from Jim Edelmen regarding the care of the baseball field:.
Josh stated that Gary did rotortill in Spring (witness by Josh) and will again in July. Josh needs to put bases in first. Both Valerie and Josh have sons that play on other town fields (Great Barrington, Sheffield and Lee) and in all town s parent and coaches help with the upkeep of the fields by raking and adding dirt as necessary. We now have a shed and Dianna will be buying a rake. Signs will be posted saying that the field must be raked after use.
Bridget stated that the amounts quoted by Jim in the letter were not accurate in that the amount of money is for the entire Greene Park maintenance and not just the ballfield.
New bases and a shed have already been purchased for the park and brush has been cleared.
Changing room/porta potty:
Must be handicap assessable
The Con Com meeting is on July 13 at 6:00. Josh drew up plans and Gary will present
July under the sky:
Movie night all set for July 25 around 8:45 Field of Dreams. Dianna will talk to the police about blocking off parking.
Boat Ramp:
Issues of people hassleing the lifeguards about putting in boats. Josh will research law to post.
Phone at Beach:
New phone coming on Thurs. Phone will temporarily be in shed and then a box will be built for phone by Josh. The new number is 413-528-3831
