Monterey Council on Aging
Minutes April 9, 2018
The meeting opened at 10 am with N. Champigny, R. Champigny, K. Purcell and J. Rodrigues present. L. Hebert was absent. Also present were Cynthia Weber, Donald Coburn, Peter Chait and Wonell Miller.
W. Miller, R.N. representing Geer Village Senior Community in Caanan, CT. outlined the programs available at that facility: skilled nursing care, dementia care, independent and assisted living as well as day and respite care. There is also low income housing for CT. residents. Ms. Miller answered many questions, gave information about various costs and left a packet for the council. We’ll add a summary to that and have it available.
Copies of the CoA report to the Select Board were distributed. It also was covered in the Board’s minutes of April 4th. The need for more members was again noted. By June 30th all terms will expire.
Luncheon for residents of 90 years is in the planning stages. The Community Center is available for us on Thursday, May 17th from 11 to 2 pm. Papas and Marketplace to be considered. Do they deliver?
Matter of Balance series of 8 classes will begin on Friday, April 27th from 1 – 3 at the Community Center. Flyers will be posted around town.
SBETC will cost twice as much next year; therefore our activities may be restricted.
Beverly Dunn, RN held her first foot care session last week. Positive response from all. Contract, information on insurance and license are on file. Next visit Thursday, May 24th.
The film crew of Maureen Banner, Maryellen Brown, Christine Goldfinger are working to bring movies to Town Hall in May starting Tuesday, May 1st at 7 pm.
Our next meeting is on April 23rd. Reminder we agreed to reduce meetings to once a month; only May 14th.
