Monterey Council on Aging
Minutes of February 12, 2018
The meeting opened at 10 am. Present were N. Champigny, R. Champigny, K. Purcell and J. Rodriguez. Dennis Lynch and Maryellen Brown joined the meeting.
D. Lynch spoke of a $15,000. grant from the state through Berkshire Regional Planning Commission to Monterey. Its focus is on risks of climate change on our town. A working group is needed with 2 workshops, 5 meetings before July 1st. The co-chairs are Police Chief Backhaus and Fire Chief Tryon. The council will be represented.
J.R. announced a paid position with the Monterey Planning Board to handle minutes and filing. The board meets at 7pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.
J.R. reported on the 2/9 meeting of south county C0As in G.B. There were 11 attending representing Egremont, G.Barrington, Monterey, Mt. Washington, New Marlborough Otis, Sandisfield, Sheffield and Tolland. The purpose was to clarify issues and needs before meeting with Rep. Pignitelli on Friday 3/9. Transportation and housing were the biggest issues but outreach and safety also.
Movies – we received the license, have 1 volunteer but need more.
Construct will speak on housing at Select Board meeting 4 pm, Wednesday, 2/21.
Lunch – Roadside Café, Wednesday, 2/28.
Matter of Balance – may be available again in April.
