Council on Ageing Meeting Minutes 4/10/17

                                Minutes of April 10, 2017

The meeting opened at10:05 am.  Present were N. Champigny, R. Champigny, K. Pucell, J. Rodriguez and Cynthia Weber.  L. Hebert was absent.  Minutes of March  27th were accepted.  
Transportation  C. Weber brought an updated SBETC pamphlet.  The round trip fee for GB/Monterey continues $10.; round trip to Pittsfield costs $15. Ridership has increased.  Other nearby towns have considered having their own van or sharing one.  The council’s opinion is that the volume is low and the upkeep for a van and driver is more than we could manage at this time.
Programs        Our April 24th meeting will be at town hall but the May 10th, Wednesday will be at the Community Center at 10 am .  The balance review will continue at 1:30 to 2:30 pm.  That will move to the CC as soon as the Certificate of Occupancy is approved.  Connie Wilson and the Chair Yoga group will demonstrate their program on Tuesday, May 2nd from 9 - 10am.  Light refreshments are planned.
Mt. Everett Culinary program will be serving lunch Wednesday, May 10th at 11 am at the school. We need the number planning to attend by May 1st, please. The council pays.  The Pittsfield Suns Ballgame is planned for Sunday, July 16th.  The gates open @ 4 pm and the game starts at 5 pm. Cost is $5. each with the council covering the rest. That includes grand stand seats and a voucher for for a hamburger, hotdog or chicken on a roll with chips and a soft drink.  Head count by July 1st, please.
Discussions         Chair yoga is supported by Parks and asked about CoA helping with the cost.  The cost is about the amount of our town budget.                                                              Film license price has been lowered.  Some question about how much and how does GB manage their films.                                                                                Issue of a walking group generated enthusiasm.  Several possible paths were mentioned – Diane’sTrail, Bob’s Way and Benedict Pond.  There are also several old, overgrown sites to check.  Safety on the roads is a concern.  KP will check vests.                      Gould Farm Harvest Barn for tea or lunch. NC will check.
