Monterey Council on Aging
Minutes of June 8, 2016
The meeting was opened at 10 am. Present were N. Champigny, R. Champigny, L. Hebert, K. Purcell. J. Rodriguez was on vacation. Kate Bassler joined the meeting. The minutes of May 25th were accepted as read.
Trips The Hill-stead Museum tour is set for this Friday, 6/10 with 8 people. The 2nd van is unnecessary and has been canceled. The Pittsfield Suns ballgame, Sunday, July 17th, has 12 planning on coming. We arranged for 25 but that can be easily expanded. Flyers and a note for the “Monterey News” need to be done. The Health Fair date will be determined. We’ll look into trips with the Otis Council as in the past. R. C. will review their events.
K.P. will follow up with Protective Services on a referral made in May. The Office of Elder Affairs agreed that the council should purchase a computer. It will need Word and Excel.
K. Bassler gave us information and a brief demonstration on a series of classes at the senior center in Gr. Barrington. A Matter of Balance if offered this month and is free. Therapeutic Movement and Balance is available every Thursday at 10 am with Susan Mazzarelli , cost is $2. per session. 528-1881 is the number to call.
