Monterey Council on Aging October 14, 2015
The meeting was opened at 10 am. R. Champigney, L. Hebert, K. Purcell, J. Rodriquez and Norma Champigney were present.
The minutes of September 23rd were reviewed and accepted.
Mail was reviewed; information re services was posted.
Health Fair reviewed. The feedback was positive from everyone. There were 14 vendors, 34 attendees counted. The CHP van was an attraction. When information was requested about funerals that was provided by Tom Thorn. There were requests to hold another fair next year. That was discussed and a Saturday after the 4th of July was suggested and agreed upon; hearing, diabetes and smoking cessation to be included.
K. Purcell agreed to act as chairperson for now. The council needs volunteers.
On October 28th, Alice Bonner, Secretary, Executive Office of Elder Affairs for the commonwealth will speak at C.T. Senior Center in Great Barrington at 9 am. At 10am Emmett Schmarzow will conduct a training for the councils of Southern Berkshire County. He suggested as many as possible should attend. It was decided to cancel our meeting for that day and attend the training.
On September 22nd K. Purcell attended a meeting in Egremont with council members from Egremont, Mt. Washington and New Marlborough. We compared programs, numbers, obstacles. There was definite agreement on the benefits of sharing information, planning, transportation and an outreach worker.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:20 am.
