July 22, 2015
The meeting opened at 10 am. Present were M. Brown, R. Champigny, K. Purcell and J. Rodriguez.
The minutes were corrected and accepted.
The process of emergency notification to townspeople was discussed. Coverage may be mixed but some have not signed up for what’s available. Melissa Noe checked on options and gave us this information for computer contact:
Phone calls (reverse 911) are sporadic by time, location and source. Will check.
Two neighbors of an elderly widow attended part of the meeting to learn what community services might be available for her. Possible needs were mentioned; information and support offered.
Events: Health Fair – J. Rodriguez reported positive contact with CHP and the Fire Department. A report on the fair will go into the Monterey News. The Pittsfield Suns game on 7/19 was a success with 23 enjoying the company, the food and the 12-3 score even though the game was called for rain after 4 innings. Four flexpass tickets remain for the Chester Theater. Berkshire Theater tickets have all been used.
Budget: Contracts and warrants were submitted for the 9/24 Erie Canal trip.
Community Block Grant – Sheffield and Great Barrington have submitted applications for senior housing rehabilitation loans, no interest. M. Brown will look at the possibility for Monterey.
Elder Services will hold joint meetings in South Berkshire County. November’s will be in Great Barrington, January’s in Sheffield and March’s in Egremont.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 am
