MINUTES
Council on Aging June 10, 2015
Members present: Linda Hebert, Ruth Champigny, Maryellen Brown and Julio Rodriquez
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am
The minutes from the May 27, 2015 meeting were accepted with the following corrections; The amount requested for the grant from Elder Services was $2,600.00
The wording regarding payment to SBETC was amended to state the council may make a payment to SBETC replacing “will make a payment …”
A meeting was planned for June 22, 2015 to meet with the neighboring COAs, but Otis will not be able to attend. It was decided to reschedule the meeting until the 29th of June., as Otis has a very active council and we would like to have the meeting when they can attend.
Julio will take charge of the Health Fair that we have scheduled for October 3, 2015
He will be forming a committee of 5 to 8 people to assist in the planning etc for the event.
It was agreed that we would order 4 more head sets for the assisted listening device and have them be more visible where people pick up there voting cards We also need one more mike for the back corner.
The COA will be purchasing a listening system for the Wilson House. The first thought was to purchase kitchen appliances for the house but Joe Baker felt that an assisted listening system for the house would meet their needs better. It was agreed to go forward with this. Joe Baker will consult with Jason Brown on what to purchase. We have authorized an initial budget of $1,500.00
The movie screens that were purchased earlier in the year have been installed at the fire house and the Selectmens office.
The next luncheon will be at the Barrington Brewery. Since the Brewery is more expensive, the council agreed to a 4.00 meal subsidy and a 3.00 tip.
We will try to get some posters for the Pittsfield Suns baseball game and picnic. Also MAB will notify the youth coach Jim Edelman so he can let his players know.
Grant update: We have been informed that health programs are not covered under this particular grant.
