 Monterey Council on Aging Minutes of May 27, 2015
The meeting was opened at 10am. M. Brown, R. Champignay, K. Purcell , L. Hebert and J. Rodriquez were present. Andy Conli and Faith Thomas from HUME New England attended.
HUME will hold summer camps for middle and high school children from June 28th through July. This summer a group of 6 students will be available once a week for 5 to 6 weeks to perform community service. This is being offered to Bidwell House, Parks and elderly needing help. Yard work and painting were examples of what could be done. Hume will obtain waivers and cover insurance. Contact information; 528-3604 and aconli@humelake.org .
Budget – Letter of Intent was sent to Elder Services of Berkshire County, Inc. for a grant for foot care services. The request was for $2,600. - The council may make a payment to SBETC assessment at the end ofJune. - Lunch and the ballgame will be subsidized.
Items discussed – One person used the hearing device at the Wired West meeting. -The councils of Otis, New Marlborough and Sandisfield will be invited to join us for coffee and cookies on Monday, June 22nd at 10 am. - More information will be offered for inclusion in the web site. - Health fair on Saturday, October 3rd. - Offer swimming program in the future. - Agreed to a contract with Pittsfield Suns for minimum of 20 people, due with a deposit on Monday, July 6th. M. Brown needs to know by June 26th. - Meet with Wilson McLoughlin House committee for planning. - Next luncheon at the Barrington Brewery, 12:30, Wednesday, June 24th.
