Events: R. Champigny contacted Chelsea at the Clark Museum and set up a guided tour for Thursday, May 28th at 1 pm. We’ll meet at Town Hall at 10 am, take SBETC bus, get to the museum by 11:30, have time to have lunch there and explore on our own after the tour. The cost of bus, tickets, and guide will be funded by the council, with lunch on their own. There are only 13 seats on the bus. K. Purcell spoke with Kyle at Wahconah Park. The Suns are a minor league team; all the games start at 7pm except Sundays at 4 pm. Options reviewed: under tent picnic either 1 hour before the game or during the game until the 7th inning. The tent is at the fence between home plate and 1st base and holds 50 people. Group minimum is 20 people. We can add to the
number, but not reduced once committed. Choice is July 24th, Friday, $20.00 under the tent with picnic. Transportation will be paid individually. K.Purcell spoke to the tour arranger at the Eire Canal, who will send brochures. The tentative plan is a weekday in September. The cost is $17.00 if 30 people come. Restaurant meal is $25. The 1pm cruise is preferable. It is fully narrated with a question and answer session, and maybe an open pilot house. C.Weber offered her services to arrange a visit to Chesterwood, possibly in August with a box lunch on the grounds. The possibility of also visiting The Mount on the same day was attractive, but thought too much.
New Business: The council approved sending flowers or snack packs to towns people who are shut-ins or in nursing homes on their birthdays. The daffodil spring sale for the American Cancer Society was recalled. A concern is getting the names of those in nursing homes. Community help is needed. Subsides for fitness program passes were discussed. The idea was tabled for another meeting. A question was raised about any volunteer’s liability, if driving someone for appointments. K.Purcell will speak to Sheffield CoA on how it is handled there.
Meeting adjourned at 11:40pm.
