Minutes of March 25, 2015
The meeting opened at 10 am. Council members present were M. Brown, R. Champigny, L. Hebert, K.Purcell and J. Rodriquez.
Stella Bodner and Barbara Gauthier also attended.
Minutes were accepted with one correction.
Assisted Listening Device To facilitate hearing at town meeting supplemental options have been reviewed. It was reported that M.Makuc has continued researching the CART program. This council is proceeding with the LS-23. M. Brown will contact J. Brown concerning installation and purchase. J. Rodriquez will follow up with the fire company.
Budget Council agreed to purchase the Game DVD with an exercise program that contains bowling and tennis. The April 6th trip was canceled, therefore those allocated funds are still available.
Events Tuesday, April 28th is the next group outing and will be lunch at the Farmington River Deli, route 8 in Otis. The plan is to order from the menu, have individual checks. The council will supplement the meal and pay the gratuities. Contact M. Brown by phone (528-1598) or e-mail (mbrown007@earthlink.net) to sign up by April 20th.
Jacob’s Pillow in early July to see Dorrance Tap Dance Group. M.Brown is planning a weekend matinee possibly with a picnic box lunch. Clark Museum around the end of May. R.Champigny will check group/senior rates for a midweek visit. She’ll also research the next possibility. Hill-stead Museum in Farmington, CT features art, historical furniture and gardens. Mass MOCA was suggested by J.Rodriquez who will research those programs. Eire Canal excursion in the fall will be checked by K.Purcell. Pittsfield Suns at Wahconah Park on a summer evening. K.Purcell will review schedule. Boston Red Sox possibilities will be checked by M.Brown.
New Business M.Brown suggested a monthly e-mail newsletter to our list on what the council has done, planning and other notifications. A volunteer group is sought to prepare and send it out mid-month. Direct mail would be sent to anyone not using a computer. Help is needed reaching more seniors; e-mail addresses and phone numbers are important.
A wide range of suggestions were made: integrate programs with other town groups, have a connection with the business community. The meeting adjourned at 11:20 am.
