Minutes of February 11, 2015
The meeting was opened at 10 am. M. Brown, R. Champigney and K. Purcell were present. The minutes of January 28th were reviewed and accepted.
Mail -- Kathy Devine of MA Office of Elder Services offered to present information here on the state’s Prescription Advantage program. Rx Advantage members have 1additional time each year to join or change their Part D plan outside of the Medicare open enrollment period. The “donut hole” would also be discussed.
-- MA Rehabilitation Commission has funds available through the Home Modification Loan Program. The contact person for information and training is Susan Gillam, phone number is 617-204-3739.
Budget -- The accountant clarified that the laptop was charged to the appropriate account, not the CoA.
--Re lunch on 2/25. The council will subsidize $60. for the 15 participants, ($2.tip and $2. meal).
--Reviewed the current budget and approved: Medical $300. i.e. supplement foot care by $10. per visit; Emergency Assistance $1,500. i.e. 1 time fuel delivery, plow; Home Repairs $1,500.minor improvements to home, i.e. ramp, safety bars. M. Brown will handle calls @ 528-1598.
__Noted SBETC van (528-4773) is very underutilized and the town contributes $2,300. annually for this service. More public outreach is needed.
“Meet and Greet” suggestions were discussed. We’ll plan 4 trips and 4 lunches per year. R. Champigny to review possible trips. For outreach M. Brown will contact the “Record” and K.Purcell the Monterey News.
The next meeting will be on February 25th at 10am in Town Hall to be followed by lunch at Roadside, 12:30pm for 15 people.
