Employee Compensation Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes
Date: 12/17/14 at 4pm
Present: Mickey Jervas, Melissa Noe, Donald Clawson and Kenn Basler
Absent: Gareth Backhaus, Fiona DeRis, Shawn Tryon, Donald Torrico and Larry Klein
- The committee reviewed the surrounding town comparison of salaries and benefits. There was discussion about the upcoming FY16 budget and the fact that there are a lot of expensive items being proposed right at the moment and it is unclear at the moment how much employees will be able to receive for a raise. Discussion ensued about changing from an across the board percentage increase to merit raises based on evaluations. It was determined that since the surrounding town comparison shows that with regards to most positions in town Monterey is among the top 3 in salaries and that no significant increases would need to be proposed this year to get any positions in line with other towns. With that in mind the committee agreed that our focus should be to begin working on how to implement performance evaluations.
It was suggested that we look into an HR person and M. Noe and Mickey will both call around to see if we can arrange presentations for the next meeting.
- The Committee will meet next on Wednesday, January 28th at 4pm.
