Employee Compensation Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes
Date: 4/3/14 at 4pm
Present: Melissa Noe, Daniel Moriarty, Mickey Jervas, Gareth Backhaus, Larry Klein and Maynard Forbes
Absent: Fiona DeRis, Muriel Lazzarini, and Chris Tryon
- The minutes from 3/6/14 were approved.
- There weren’t any reports from the salary subcommittee or handbook subcommittee.
- There was some discussion with regards to the presentation made at Monday’s Select Board meeting by a staff member of the Berkshire County Retirement System.
- The Committee feels that it has been disrespectful that the Select Board has not kept the ECAC informed of the decisions that they have made based on the research and recommendations made to the Board. Maynard felt that the Select Board has not taken any of our recommendations plus what the Select Board did with the Police Chief and Sgt wages last year and then again this year, shows not only a total disrespect to this committee, but questions why are we wasting our time. Maynard stated that we do the same thing every year and get the same results, expecting something different and assumes this is because we never hear back from them. The Committee understands that not all recommendations will be put in place but when they are not the ECAC feels that they deserve to be informed why it was not. The Committee is going
to draft a letter to the Select Board making it clear that we expect a formal response from the Select Board when we put forth a recommendation letting the ECAC know what action was taken with regards to the recommendation.
- The next meeting will be on May 1st at 4pm.
