Meeting 1: Dan, Kenn & BJ
Our Charter: Develop a method to size the level of effort for the Monterey Building Department Committee (MBDC)
Define an ongoing process for the review of the MBD effort

Approach- Determine what work is done, what drives this work
It is anticipated that most of the effort is driven by bldg permits and the follow on activities
We will determine the number of such requests for the last two years, subset into new construction and homeowner requests (base level & trend)
Attempt to determine min/max for various types of requests,
Using start & stop dates use the Commissioner’s daily log to determine workload over that time period
Project 2006/7 level of effort/budget
Provide the Select Board with a Monthly(?) Report template so they understand the effort occurring in the MBD
We agreed to meet with as many homeowners and builders who had permit requests as possible.
We agreed that Kenn would set up a mtg. with Gordon Bailey on Friday, Feb. 10
Meeting 2 Select Board, Dan, Kenn, BJ, Don, Melissa
This meeting was requested by Michel for the purpose of discussing the MBDC and access to information in the MBD files. The files have been cleaned up and there was a concern about the MBDC members having direct access to the files. It was stated that we could get whatever info we needed by having Melissa access the files. Since the MBDC does not know exactly what it needs, The Board asked Don to pull together the files associated with 5 permit requests from residents and 5 from builders, this should include some permits that did not go well.
There was a request that we generate a narrative “job description” for this office.
Don does not do plumbing and electrical inspections, others do those. Who?
Don supervises these people.
Don does 2 camp inspections on a yearly basis.
Don has frequent requests from other town committees. Zoning, Health, and Assessors. Don has a complaints file and documents enforcement efforts frequently with town counsel.
We will do an interim report on Mar 13
We will hold an information meeting before the next town meeting
