MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES
Date: March 7, 2016
Present: John Makuc, Roy Carwile and Peter Kolodziej
Also present: Maggie Leonard, Bettina Schwartz, Dustin Collins, Megan, Kip Strawbridge
The meeting began at 4pm
1. The minutes from 1/4/16 were approved.
2. The Board met with Hume to discuss noise levels. Maggie was present to see if the Board would use their available grant funds to perfom a noise study. Concerns, conditions and possible solutions were discussed. Hume has cut out making PA announcements. Kip explained that during scheduled recreation times it is necessary to have amplified noise, music etc during the 5 weeks of camp. Bettina stated that there is always a constant noise from machinery however her main concern is the amplified entertainment noises. It was noted that seasons and weather are just a few things that will affect how far the noise will travel from the property. Hume is making an effort to move their heavy machinery to the other side of the property and make their guests aware that there is a self
imposed noise curfew and felt that none of their activities would fall under the noise pollution guidelines that the Board of Health would be concerned with.
3. The Board signed the FY17 contract for public health services with the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association.
4. The Board discussed their options for KSA and have decided that they will extend another invitation for the new partner to attend the next meeting to make it clear what needs to be done prior to any permits will be issued to operate.
5. John noted that one Select Board member has raised concerns that the Board of Health has not been as busy as it used to be and maybe the budget should be lowered.
6. The Board will meet next on Monday, March 21st at 4pm.
The meeting adjourned at 5:20pm
