MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES
Date: July 15, 2013
Present: John Makuc, Robert Annelli, Stephen Enoch and Peter Kolodziej

The meeting began at 4pm
1. The minutes from 5/6/13 were approved.
2. The Board discussed with the Town Clerk present whose responsibility burial permits fall under. Everyone reviewed Chapter 21 of the Massachusetts Board of Health Guidebook. Peter stated that this has always been a Board of Health responsibility that is usually delegated to the Town Clerk but no one had any recollection of ever making this appointment to someone specific in the office. It is believed that the former Town Clerk, Linda Thorpe may currently be issuing the permits as she is on the cemetery commission. Peter suggested that once we decide who will be handling the permits that a letter be sent to the surrounding funeral homes with the process for Monterey. John is going to contact Linda Thorpe to determine what the process has been to date. Peter’s recommendation
was to appoint the current Town Clerk as the person to handle the responsibilities as she is in the town hall regularly and the records associated with this should be at town hall.
3. Peter met with Kirk Garber of the LSPGO Private Water supply. He had questions on declassifying as a public water supply. The Board will need to approve the request that there are less than xx service connections and people for a specific period of time.
4. Bob questioned whether the Konkapot River should be tested like the Green River is. Peter stated it isn’t a simple process and could then deem it a public swimming hole which would require more testing and such. No action will be taken on this.
5. Bob also inquired if we should be doing something about the mosquito issues. Discussion ensued about spraying. No action will be taken on this.
6. The Board will next meet on August 5th at 4pm. John will not be at this meeting.
